Wanewell Privacy Policy

Last updated 17 August 2026

Wanewell does not collect your data. There is no account, no server and no analytics. Everything you log stays on your phone. We cannot see it, because it never reaches us.

What Wanewell stores

Everything you enter, meaning period dates, flow, symptoms, moods, notes, measurements and settings, is saved in the app's own storage area on your device. That is the only copy that exists.

What Wanewell sends

Nothing. The app makes no network requests. It has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers and no third party trackers. It works with no internet connection at all, and you can check that yourself by turning on airplane mode.

Who we share it with

Nobody. We have nothing to share. Your cycle data is never sold, never used for advertising, never given to data brokers and never used to train anything.

Encryption on your device

What you log is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The key is generated once on your device, held in the platform keystore, which is hardware backed on most Android phones, and it never leaves the phone. It is not stored alongside the data and we never receive it.

When you wipe your data from Settings, the key is destroyed as well as the data, so any ciphertext left behind in a stale backup cannot be read afterwards.

Encryption cannot protect against someone using your unlocked phone with the app already open. Nothing can. That is what the PIN is for.

The PIN lock, and what it does not do

The optional PIN is a screen lock, and it is separate from the encryption above. Your PIN is stored as a salted digest rather than as plain text, and the lock stops someone casually opening the app or picking up your unlocked phone. It is not the encryption key, so setting or removing it does not re-encrypt anything.

Biometric unlock is a convenience on top of the PIN and never a replacement, which is why it can be switched off while keeping the PIN.

If you are in a situation where someone having access to your phone could put you at risk, a lock inside one app is not sufficient protection on its own. Please also consider your device's own lock and encryption settings.

Reminders

If you turn reminders on, they are scheduled by your phone's own notification system. No reminder text passes through us or any push service, and no device token is created.

The camera

Wanewell asks for the camera for one thing only: moving your history to a new phone. Your old phone shows a series of codes on its screen and the new one reads them, so your data can move between your own devices without going through a cloud service.

Nothing is photographed, recorded or saved. The camera is used only to read those codes, and they are decoded on your phone and thrown away. Wanewell asks for the camera when you tap Receive and at no other time, never when you open the app. You can decline and still move your data using export and restore instead, which needs no camera at all.

Payments

If you buy Wanewell Pro, the payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your name, card details or address.

Your rights over your data

There is no "request your data" process, because nothing is held anywhere for you to request. There is no deletion request process, because you can do it yourself in two taps.

The flip side is worth stating plainly: there is no cloud backup. If you lose or wipe your phone, the data is gone. Export from Settings if you want a copy.

Sharing an export

When you export or share a summary, the app hands the file to your phone's share sheet. Where it goes after that is your choice and outside the app's control.

Children

Wanewell is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone of any age, because we do not collect data at all.

Medical disclaimer

Wanewell is a personal logging tool. It is not a medical device. It cannot be used as contraception, it cannot tell you whether you are pregnant, and it cannot diagnose any condition. Predictions are statistical estimates calculated from the days you logged. For anything that matters, please speak to a doctor, nurse or pharmacist.

Changes

If a future version of Wanewell ever collects or transmits data, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be explained in the app rather than buried here.
